Kim Morgan is an international artist and teacher located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She came to me with a website that was simply not working for her- it was unaccommodating, inconsistent, limited and just wouldn’t play nice with her media. I totally understand the frustration that can come along with fiddling with a website that just doesn’t want to budge; cropping images over and over, video’s being exported dozens of time, text just not appearing where you want- it’s enough to give up on the web.
I wanted to make her a tool that would allow her to publish presentation rich media with only a few steps. The back-end is meticulously planned out and intuitive. As a visitor, the site is open, uncluttered, and incredibly easy to navigate. The menus have smooth expanding animation that respond properly when navigating from one menu item to the next, bypassing finicky hover-over functionality. The gallery’s have been extended with some great features: Landing on a page, you are presented with only four image thumbnails with a “+” button to be able to smoothly expand (and collapse) the gallery contents- this provides a visual consistency on each page and reduces the clutter of large galleries. Even better, video’s are able to be embedded directly into the gallery set with dynamic recognition!
